Sony announced recently that they are developing a combination CGI and Live Action “Sonic the Hedgehog” adaptation to film. What could go wrong?
According to the official statement, the film hopes to “capture Sonic’s irreverent tone and spirit, reuniting him with some of the most revered and infamous characters of the franchise.”
“There are limitless stories to tell with a character like Sonic the Hedgehog, and a built-in international fan base,” said Hannah Minghelle, Columbia Pictures’ president of Production, “we’re looking to capture everything that generations of fans know and love about Sonic while also growing his audience wider than ever before.”
The franchise has been adapted into several different television series’, some better than others. Regardless, it is hard to tell if this movie will actually be good. It’s a movie based off a video game for children that blends live action and CGI. It could be good, but it doesn’t have much going for it at this time, but…
Maybe a good cast would help? Here’s a hypothetical casting for Sonic the Hedgehog, the live action/CGI film.

Very well trailer. Feels like Emilio Estevez’s “Bobby” in ways which received a mixed critical response. (And I’m not just making that comparison because they are both Kennedy’s). Overall this looks really good and will participate in the festival circuit this upcoming month.
