The award season is underway and precursors are flooding in. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s chosen nominations will be announced on Thursday December 11th.
On the film side of things we expect “Boyhood” and “Birdman” to get a lot of attention. “The Imitation Game,” “Selma,” “Gone Girl,” and “The Grand Budapest Hotel” should make some appearances too.
On the television side of things “True Detective,” “House of Cards,” and “Modern Family” should all easily show up. “Game of Thrones,” “The Good Wife,” “Downton Abbey,” “Fargo, ” “Orange is the New Black,” and “The Big Bang Theory” are all strong possibilities in multiple categories as well.
Here are our chosen for each category. Click the “More” link to see alternates/dark horses in that category as well.

You wouldn’t think it, but there is a significant different in the mind of an Academy voter and a Hollywood Foreign Press voter. To end an excellent festival, “The Imitation Game” went home with the TIFF Audience Award. One of the runner-up films was “St. Vincent” another Weinstein film that should farewell in the comedy categories at the Globes.
We went ahead and updated everything, including television categories as we start seeking into a new Fall season for shows.

Who knows if AMC would ever want to capitalize on the success of the hit television series and expand into adapting the amazing 2013 game-of-the-year winner. Telltale developed an emotionally stirring epic with their spin-off of the successful franchise. The game almost required you to watch the story more often than hit buttons on your controller.
Who knows if an adaptation would ever be successful. but we went ahead and picked some key actors to fill in as possible candidates for each of the roles. Keep in mind we couldn’t do all the characters so we stuck with primarily the main roles within Season One.
Matthew McConaughey, True Detective
Benedict Cumberbatch, Sherlock: His Last Vow
Billy Bob Thornton, Fargo
Mark Ruffalo, The Normal Heart
Woody Harrelson, True Detective
