Oscars: 2016 Winner Predictions and Full List

revenant-gallery-16-gallery-imageOscars: 2016 Winner Predictions and Full List

After “The Revenant” scored 12 nominations on Thursday morning, you have to start thinking that the HFPA favoring “The Revenant” to “Spotlight” wasn’t just a fluke.

We’ll watch and follow the momentum, there is still plenty of time before the Oscars, but we’ve seen this momentum change at the end all too often in the past few years. Primarily when it was supposed to go to “Boyhood” but went to “Birdman” and in 2011 when it was supposed to go to “The Social Network” but went to “The King’s Speech.”

Watch for the PGA and DGA winners as well to notice any significant momentum shift. “Spotlight” should win SAG and PGA, but I think all “The Revenant” needs is a push from a DGA win to secure its victory. If “The Revenant” wins PGA? Well, then it’s over.

Oscar: Final Nomination Predictions – 2016

spotlight-movie-2015-reviewsOscar: Final Nomination Predictions – 2016

Well here they are.

It’s been a very different year for award predictions, but thanks for baring with me. The nominations will be announced next week, and I feel very confident in my predictions.

At this stage, it definitely looks like “Spotlight” is our winner, however I’d watch out for a Director/Picture split. Potentially Miller could get away with murder here, overcoming a genre-bias Academy.

Here are our final predictions and stay tuned for more from us as the season continues.

Awards: SAG (Film) Predictions

19f3dc49e3a67f709a7d749a0ab103baAwards: SAG (Film) Predictions

The Screen Actors Guild will announce both their film and television nominees Wednesday morning.

Usually SAG voters eyeball the front-runners, however many of them miss the late films (Joy, The Hateful Eight, The Revenant), and they usually throw us a curveball or two.

See here are our quick predictions on what will go down Wednesday morning, once the nominees are announced we will scramble to finalize our Golden Globe predictions factoring in what we’ve seen this season.

Golden Globes: Updated Film Predictions – October

Room-trailerGolden Globes: Updated Film Predictions – October

We have updated our Film Predictions for the Golden Globes. We were going to do the television shows as well, but it seems like not much has changed there.

Click here to see Movie and Television predictions.

Big steps have been made by “Joy,” “Spotlight,” and “Room.” However, there are still many films to be seen. “I Saw the Light” gets pushed to 2016, making the “Musical/Comedy” categories even more obscure.

SN: Venice, Toronto, and Telluride Film Festivals are underway

SideNote: Venice, Tornoto, and Telluride Film Festivals are underway

It’s that time of the year where we begin to get a slight understanding of what this award season is going to look like.

The past few days Venice has already showed up four award-anticipated films: “Black Mass,” “Everest,” “Spotlight,” and “Beasts of No Nation.”

“Beasts of No Nation” has the best reviews of the four currently holding an 81 on Metacritic.

“Black Mass,” which premiered early today, is holding a strong score of 73.

“Spotlight” is being called Thomas McCarthy’s best, and is holding a score of 77.

“Everest” is looking like a strong thriller, but may not compete in the award game with a 64 on Metacritic.

As far as potentially strong films we are still waiting to hear about Tom Hooper’s “The Danish Girl.”
