Mad Max: Fury Road
Son of Saul
Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens
My friends and I had a wonderful time playing the “Evolve” Beta earlier this month. The graphics seem strong, the control scheme seems fair, and (although there wasn’t in the Beta) there seems to be a lot of variety in monsters and in characters alike.
But reflecting on the many hours of gameplay I experienced I had a sinking feeling: I may get bored of this fast. (more…)
With Video Games it is very difficult to pinpoint what might be the best of 2015 come this time in 2016. In today’s world a lot of the great games are independently made and fly under the radar. Also many games will be announced during E3 2015, most of those titles will likely be 2016 releases, but some will make it just in time.
Some of our titles on our list this year were actually on our Most Anticipated list last year. Now that the developers have had enough time to make the games perfect for gamers, we can really bet that they will be strong.
So here are our top 10 Most Anticipated Video Games of 2015
1. Tom Clancy’s The Division
“Tom Clancy’s The Division” looks beautiful and has the potential to become the next defining multiplayer experience. People were excited to see this game come out in 2014, but in May last year the game was delayed to 2015. An anonymous source inside Ubisoft Massive stated “The game engine works well, it’s not done, but works well. The actual game development has barely started, however.”
There is no official release date, but there’s a strong chance the game will be released this year.
What a bizarre year for video games. Was the first year of the next generation a success? Well, it was different.
Nintendo probably has the greatest story here. Back in March we wrote about their struggling profits and what a world without Nintendo may look like after unveiling their new console – the Wii U. BBC news had reported that Nintendo executives took pay cuts, in the 20-30% range, including president President Satoru Iwata who took a 50% pay cut after disappointing sales of the Wii U.
All of these projections implied a bleak future for one of the eldest video game company. So it feels refreshing to make an easy case that the Wii U had the best exclusive titles of 2014.
Preview: The Potential of “Evolve”
Valve Corporation published “Left 4 Dead” and the subsequent sequel “Left 4 Dead 2.” After acquiring Turtle Rock Studios in 2008, Valve would shut down the company. Some time after the release of “Left 4 Dead.” Turtle Rock Studios had only a few remaining team members who developed an iPhone maintenance app called “Garage Buddy,” shortly after this release they put up a new website declaring their reformation.
It wasn’t long after, in 2011, when Turtle Rock Studios begun aggressive hiring for their next major title. In May 2011 THQ acquired the rights to a “first-person shooter game” that was being developed by Turtle Rock Studios. THQ head Danny Bilson was enthusiastic and said “Those guys are really smart. They were the Left 4 Dead team and that was fun. This one’s wild. I can’t wait to share that one. People are going to go nuts. It’s the most well-thought out design from beginning I’ve ever seen.”
Video Game Preview: What to Expect from E3 2014
June 10th is when E3 2014 will begin. We will hear about new technology, and most importantly new next-gen games. E3 2013 seemed to be all about the new consoles (and rightfully so), but a lot of the new games were glossed over. Many games announced last year have been delayed such as “The Witcher 3,” “The Division,” and “Halo 5: Guardians” game. So expect to hear more about all of these and less about distant future titles. (more…)
Next month’s E3 is going to reveal a lot and it’s going to be exciting to see what games will be testing the powers of the new-gen consoles. The year is almost halfway over and we’ve already seen some excellent games.
Keep in mind that this list co-ranks both the games released and the potential/expectations of upcoming titles. Also many games still haven’t announced their release dates and could be pushed to 2015.
For now here is our list for what could potentially be the top 10 video games of 2014 at the end of the year: (more…)
