Oscars: 2015 Winners – Complete List

6cd1c52064a64f50b2db7450d0d6550fOscars: 2015 Winners – Complete List

It was awesome watching two of the most ambitious films of this decade (Birdman, Boyhood) fight it out for Best Picture.

In the end “Birdman” won the top prize and picked up a total for 4 Oscars. “The Grand Budapest Hotel” also picked up 4 Oscars in the technical categories and “Whiplash” picked up 3.

Those were the only multiple winners. It’s really sad thinking “Boyhood” only won one Oscar, but I have a feeling it will be remembered in history for a long time.

Oscars: Final Predictions – 2015

maxresdefaultOscars: Final Predictions – 2015

The 2015 Academy Awards ceremony begins this Sunday, February 22nd at 8:30 p.m. ET.

This will be the first year that The Media 10 will live blog the ceremony. We will create a post on the Home Page just before 8:30 p.m. ET. Keep hitting refresh for updates on the ceremony, winners, and monitor how the Oscar prognostication world is handling this year’s potential, unpredictable, Oscar outcome.

Two of the most unpredictable categories this year are Best Picture and Best Director. They rarely go separate, and not since 1996 has a film won all 3 major guilds (SAG, PGA, DGA) and lost the Oscar. We predict this year will be a repeat of ’96 and “Boyhood” will ultimately dethrone “Birdman.”

Here are our FINAL picks for each category:

Birdman
The Grand Budapest Hotel

Whiplash
American Sniper
The Imitation Game
Selma
The Theory of Everything

What Will Win: Boyhood

What Could Win: Birdman

What Should Win: Whiplash

We’re torn 50/50 between “Birdman” and “Boyhood,” two incredibly ambitious films that were able to survive the slime of this bizarre awards season. A “Whiplash” win is incredibly unlikely, if it were to win it may be the biggest surprise in Oscar history, but it was a perfect film.

The only real surprise in Best Picture is the lack of “Gone Girl,” but it was already a bubble contender since people weren’t sure how many first place votes it would receive. “Boyhood” is easily winning this though.

Oscars: Final Nominee Predictions – 2015

imageOscars: Final Nominee Predictions – 2015

What a year it has been. The films of 2014 were unique which made the awards race a little tough to follow. In the end two films that came out earlier in 2014 will uncommonly be center-stage: “Boyhood” and “The Grand Budapest Hotel.”

“The Grand Budapest Hotel” is set to take home a bundle of technical awards while “Boyhood” is securely ready to take home the Best Picture/Director categories.

It was tough to find five to fit each category, with very few films “secure” in each one. But here is what we predict will get nominations in each category. Go to the Oscar page to see alternates.

We have fully updated all of our Oscar Predictions. Now including the categories: Original Song, Documentary Feature, and Foreign Feature.

With “Interstellar’s” reviews not quite being raves, it has been knocked down a few levels. The close we draw to the end of the year, the safer films like “Boyhood,” “The Imitation Game,” “Birdman,” and “The Theory of Everything” look.

There are still some movies to be seen. “Unbroken” has a lot of potential. Others would include “A Most Violent Year,” “The Gambler,” “Selma,” and “Into the Woods.”

So here is where we are right now. After the jump, we have our ranked listings for all of the contenders. Click the “More” links to expand on the category and see other potential contenders.
