The Media 10 doesn’t usually reviews movies, but we are changing that with “Quick Takes” a new segment that gives at most two paragraphs to recently seen movies.

Interstellar (★★★1/2)

“Interstellar” is an embodiment of the imaginative barriers the movie medium is capable of exceeding. “Interstellar” is emotional, it is overwhelming, and it subtly holds onto an important moral. By wrapping together its cosmic design with the vulnerabilities of the human spirit, “Interstellar” is triumphant.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 (★★1/2)

“Mockingjay Part 1,” represents a strong first act for, what will hopefully be, an epic conclusion. It is arguable that the division of “Mockingjay” into two parts was unnecessary, however “Part 1” achieves the melancholic calm-before-the-storm atmosphere it needed to make itself stand-out as an above-average installment.

Godzilla (★★1/2)

Never before has a disaster film incorporated such procedural attention-to-detail in the aftermath of destruction. “Godzilla” makes itself stand out by tying itself into the realistic decisions and procedures that our government would take in the wake of the iconic monster’s existence.
