Rush
(Sept. 27, 2013; Universal Pictures)
Summary: A re-creation of the merciless 1970s rivalry between Formula One drivers James Hunt and Niki Lauda.
Oscar Prospects: Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Original Score, Best Sound Editing
Runner Up: Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Sound Mixing
Long Shots: Best Actor, Best Production Design, Best Visual Effects
Status: After being screened to some high praise, particular of Daniel Bruhl’s performance, it’s hard to see Ron Howard’s “Rush” not making it. Though critics are giving it out-of-the-park reviews, they are still all-around positive. It may be all this film needs if it has a successful box-office. Universal doesn’t have many other films in the mix this year.
