Top 10: Christmas Movies and  TV Specials of All Time

At the end of October I worked on compiling a list of the greatest Halloween films of all-time based on a number of factors. These factors include, but are not limited to: Positions on other professionally written top lists, IMBD user scores, RT and Metacritic Critic scores, ect.

With Thanksgiving in the past, Christmas is right around the corner. Everyone is putting up their lights and hunting for that sale. So, if you aren’t completely encumbered with the Christmas spirit then here are some movies that may help with that.

After the jump, check out the Top 10 Christmas Movies of all time including the 11 runner-ups. A “T” next to a number indicates that the film is tied with another film for that position.

T20 – How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
T20 – Brazil (1985) (Not a Family Film)
T18 – Trading Places (1983) (Not a Family Film)
T18 – Frosty the Snowman (1969)
17 – The Year Without Santa Claus (1974)
T15 – Miracle on 34th Street (1947)
T15 – Gremlins (1984)
14 – Scrooged (1988)
13 – Love Actually (2003) (Not a Family Film)
12 – Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964)

T10 – National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989)
T10 – Bad Santa (2003) (Not a Family Film)
9 – The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)
8 – Elf (2003)
T6 – How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966)
T6 – A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965)
5 – The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
4 – Home Alone (1990)
3 – Die Hard (1988) (Not a Family Film)
2 – It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)
1 – A Christmas Story (1983)

Not all of them are Movies, I know, but how can you not include Christmas specials such as A Charlie Brown Christmas. I would not recommend all these selections for children as indicted above. Let me know if we missed your favorite!
